Episode 17: Being the LIGHT in a Worn Down World Pt. 2
We’ve all heard we need to “be the light…”
But what the heck does that really mean? Is it really just not cussing, not gossiping and telling people that they need Jesus?
While there isn’t anything wrong with any of those things, when it comes to “being the light” we think there may be a different way of looking at it then we’ve been taught in Sunday School.
In the Gospels, Jesus shared the story of The Good Samaritan and how the religious people were too busy doing the work of the ministry to help a poor man in need on the side of the road. But the one who did help (you guessed it, The Good Samaritan) never told the man he needed to repent or that Jesus loved him. He simply became the love of Jesus to that man in that moment. And what’s even more amazing about this story? This was Jesus sharing it. It’s almost as if he’s saying, “Hey guys, you want to know what it means to be me? Here it is.”
Grab your bible and a cup of something warm and join us for part one of this episode as we chat about what it could practically look like to be the light in a broken, hurting, busy and worn-down world ☕
In this two part-er episode, we’ll chat about:
What we can learn about the heart of God through the story of The Good Samaritan
Not feeling pressure to become something you’re not in order to share the love of God with people
What it means to meet people where they are
5 ways to practically be the light using the acronym L.I.G.H.T… clever we know :)
