Episode 18: Quit Bullying Yourself!

Happy New Year!

Now get your to-do list going, start jotting down all you resolutions, throw out your sweets… wait, this doesn’t feel so happy anymore. For many of us, January 1st carries with it the expectation that we have become a new person at midnight. Like Cinderella, when the clock hit 12, we were transformed and finally began carrying the power to transform our life. But after a few weeks, we realize that the thrill of starting a new habit has worn off and we feel disappointed with our short comings. Maybe it’s the workout your skipped, the alarm that your snoozed, or the attitude you failed to hold back, but in whatever way we inevitably fall short, it’s easy to feel discouraged with ourselves and begin the internal bullying. Unfortunately, when we rely on ourselves to be the answer to our problems, rather then the transformative power of Jesus, we wind up in an identity crisis. But the wonderful news is that we have been seated with Christ in heavenly places and have the Word at our side which tells us who we really are.

So in this episode, we’ll discuss how to avoid letting our failures shape our identities, and how we can take on the new year from a place of victory!

Here’s what we cover:

  • Cultivating self-respect by learning our value in Christ

  • You’re not enough - but Jesus is!

  • Operating from a place of victory rather then defeat.

  • Don’t let your short comings shape your identity!
